What is the ROLF METHOD?

Structural Integration is a direct deep tissue technique that works primarily with the myofascial system (muscles and fascia).

The fascia is a thin elastic connective tissue that surrounds every structure in the body and is continuous from head to toe. The fascia is what gives our body its shape. There is a layer of fluid between the fascia and muscles to allow the muscles to move freely one on the other. Various stresses such as injuries, emotional and mental stress, repetitive motions, poor postural habits, cause the layers to adhere and become dense so free movement becomes impaired/reduced.

The lengthening, balancing and releasing of tension in the muscles of the legs, feet and pelvis allow our spine, thorax, shoulder girdle and neck to be more supported so that we can assume a more upright posture.

“Better than 90% of the brain’s output is directed towards maintaining your body in its gravitational field. Therefore, the less energy one spends on one’s posture, the more energy is available for healing, digestion, and thinking”.
